Service

Feeling inspired? Interested in some service opportunities?

You're in the right place! Here at Penn State, we are immersed in a massive community, and it can sometimes feel like there is no way to make an impact, but here are a number of opportunities for anyone looking to get involved in serving.

Got service ideas?

Reach out to our service chair Lizzie Orosz at exo5142@psu.edu with any questions or ideas

You may be a busy college student, but these opportunities are designed for that.

Here are three different levels of commitment allowing you to serve in the way that is most convenient for you.

These are opportunities that you can do just once and require minimal effort to get started.

These are opportunities that require additional commitment such as getting clearances or returning more than once.

These are opportunities that are recurring and require the highest level of commitment.

Level 1 Opportunities

2025 Jubilee!

Every 25 years the Catholic Church celebrates a Jubilee Year and the time has come!

Level 2 Opportunities

National Marrow Donor Program

The National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) has a registry to help people with blood cancers and other disorders. Once you provide your DNA (they will send the kit to you for free!), it will be analyzed to see if you are a match for someone in need of bone marrow.

OLV Babysitting

Our Lady of Victory (OLV) Parish is looking for people to help babysit during their women’s Bible study. It will be from 10-11:30am on most Fridays and start in late September. Also, it will pay $20 per session!

Level 3 Opportunities

Conversations to remember

Conversations to Remember is a nonprofit that pairs 2-3 college students with an elderly individual, most commonly with dementia, to help them feel less isolated by participating in a virtual one hour call once a week. The program is a 16-week commitment.
