Men's Groups

Our small groups have always been a staple of our club for many of our members. Especially now, we know that people are hurting for meaningful social interaction with others who share values and a love of fundamental truths. Whether you're just beginning your faith journey or have been with us for a long time, we surely have the right small group for you! Join us to find friends, faith, and fulfillment as we walk the road Jesus has laid for us

Our small groups and Bible studies exist for two reasons: sanctification and community.

sanc•ti•fi•ca•tion
n.    The act of sanctifying or making holy; in theology, the act of God's grace by which the affections are purified and the soul is cleansed from sin and consecrated to God.

A saint is someone who loves God and wants His Will over one's own plans. A saint is not someone who is perfect and commits no errors (every saint was kind of a mess at some point). Sanctification is the process of becoming holy with the help of the Lord's grace. Take St. Peter for example:

Peter came to understand that Jesus is the Messiah and that following the Lord would give his life the fulfillment that he sought. He followed Our Lord for 3 years during His public ministry. During that time, Peter learned what life as a disciple of Christ looks like and promised to preach the Good News. At the time of Jesus' Passion on the Cross, Peter denied Jesus out of fear but repented for letting his faith fail. On Pentecost, after such successes and failures in his life, Peter was filled with the Holy Spirit, and finally prepared to be the rock that Jesus was counting on him to be. He hit the streets and shared the Gospel, converting the masses to the One True Faith. Each stage was exactly what God had planned for Peter at that time, and throughout his discipleship, Peter was driven by loving God. That love helped him to know, follow, and serve as best as he could.

n.    A group of people living in the same locality and sharing common interests.

Communities are crucial now more than ever. It can change a person's life to feel that they belong and are cherished by others where they live. As an essential pillar of Newman at Penn State, we encourage you to join a weekly group that you can go to regularly. You will find that the small groups bond like families and are at their strongest when the attendance is consistent week-over-week. Joining the GroupMe is a great start, but it isn’t enough to help you connect with each other in a meaningful and lasting way. If you’re unsure about joining a weekly group, try it out a couple times and see what you think! We have small groups almost every night of the week (including the weekends!) so we hope you will be able to find a time in your busy schedule to allow us to welcome you into our Newman Community.

If you are in need of a more casual group, most of the co-ed groups have slightly more flexibility and are great for learning more about a variety of topics that you may have interest in.

Make sure you take a look at our small groups! We can't wait to meet you and grow with each other in Christ!

God bless you!
