Who all is excited for the first week back on campus? I know I am! Most students in State College might be moping about finding their classes, buying textbooks, and learning to get along with their roomates, but not the Catholic Community.
Penn State Newman invites you to Rush Roman, a week-long event sponsored by Nittany Catholic. There is no commitment required, but if you are curious about what we do as a club, or more importantly, what the vibe is like, stop by at 6:00 pm any day of week 1.
On Monday, join us for a fun meet and greet at Worship Hall, located in the Pasquerilla Spiritual Center. This will be the perfect way to break the ice, even if it is a Monday. After getting to know each other better, we'll move down to the HUB Lawn for some volleyball and ice cream. Directions: https://maps.app.goo.gl/2vhoydXEEntb6GmP9
On Tuesday, we will be headed to the IM fields located North of the East residence area. There will be a super fun mat ball tournament and soccer tournament. Even if sports aren't really your thing, stop on by for the chance to rep your year. If you are coming in to PSU as a freshman, put on something white. Those of us entering our sophomore year will be pulling up in blue. Anyone who is coming in hot for a packed junior year should wear red (shout out to anyone coming to UP with the 2 & 2 program). And for the most elusive seniors, let's see if just anyone can pull off black. Directions: https://maps.app.goo.gl/13WaGFRamdxGEFXDA
On Wednesday (halfway through), we'll be hosting a scavenger hunt. This is the perfect option for anyone who is still getting to know campus. Believe me, I know how hard it can be. It took me seven whole weeks of getting lost before I figured it all out. That said, there are few better ways to make friends than stumbling around campus together. If that sounds like fun, meet us at Worship Hall to meet your team and receive the first clue. Directions: https://maps.app.goo.gl/2vhoydXEEntb6GmP9
On Thursday, come visit the Suzanne Pohland Paterno Catholic Student Faith Center located lust North of Park Ave. No kidding, the Faith Center, or FC, is my favorite place to be for studying and hanging alike. This time we will be watching a movie, enjoying some fresh acai bowls, and generally getting to know the place. Directions: https://maps.app.goo.gl/xRLUVmRdLfKkLLVa9
Finally, Friday is when we will all celebrate why we do it with an outdoor mass at the Arboretum. Bring a picnic blanket and enjoy God's creation among new friends. After the mass, all are welcome to explore the area and hike around. Directions: https://maps.app.goo.gl/ypusofVmfQEtRWKz6
Even though Rush Roman comes to end with that Friday, it doesn't mean it's all over. The new friendships can last a lifetime, and the Nittany Catholic Community will continue to grow in all that we have. That may be sort of sappy, but I get to write this stuff, not the critics. That said, welcome back to campus and I pray you have a wonderful year.
